Belgium beat Bulgaria 3-2 (25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 17-15) in the League of Nations last night after biting their nails in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The competition was very hard. After a cannon start, our comrades took a 2-0 lead. But the Bulgarians roared bravely and drew level again.
Fortunately, the Belgian team still had a surplus in the tank. The Tigers’ victory was 15-13 in the tiebreak. In particular, Brit Herbots lifted the gear again, becoming the Belgian top scorer with 26 points.
It was the Yellow Tigers’ third win in eight Nations League games, with Herbots and crew finishing 11th. Gert Vande Brooke’s Belgians had already won the match against Poland the previous day. The Belgian women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to China on Wednesday and 3-1 to Canada on Thursday.
The third week of the Nations League will take place from June 30 to July 3 in Calgary, Canada. The Tigers present a very tough program with games against the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Leader Japan. The top eight teams will qualify for the finals to be held in Ankara from July 13 to 17.
