If you need another reason to adopt a dog, here’s one more.
Just once, these bastards of cats can’t be shown. No, this time, let’s give way to these nice big cushioned dogs, who in addition to being one of the cutest animals on earth (that’s all) will allow young children to not develop a particularly painful disease. Those who bear it.
Dogs and Crohn’s Disease
This is a recently published study Mount Sinai Hospital Presented at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2022, it shows that young children who grow up with dogs may have some protection against Crohn’s disease, a common inflammatory bowel disease.
Williams Turpin, physician and lead author of the study and research associate Mount Sinai Hospital etc University of TorontoSaid:
Our study appears to add to others that have explored the “hygiene hypothesis” suggesting that lack of exposure to microbes early in life may lead to a lack of immune regulation to environmental microbes.

According to the study, children who own a dog between the ages of 5 and 15 have healthier intestinal permeability, which reduces the development of inflammatory bowel disease. The relationship between this healthy gut permeability combined with the balance between the body’s immune response and the gut microbiota can help prevent Crohn’s disease – a disease that most often develops in young people. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and abdominal pain. Weight loss
About these stupid cats Dr. Turpin adds:
We haven’t seen the same results with cats, although we’re still trying to figure out why. This may be due to dog owners taking their pets outside more often or living in more green areas, which have already been shown to protect against Crohn’s disease.
Williams Turpin for DW
That’s another good reason to adopt a dog for your kids, don’t you think? On the other hand, we’re okay: we don’t adopt a dog and then give it up, be aware of the burden this implies, and in the long run, we can never say enough.
