New Delhi: “If I wear a mask, you’re an amulet, and if you wear a mask, I’m an amulet,” says a study by scientists at Guttingen, Cornell University. Wearing a mask shows greater benefits than maintaining physical distance. Even with a mask that does not tighten on the face, good results are seen. The study is published in the journal PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences).
Scientists examined seven people as part of the study. They usually breathe in and out through the nose. When they came in contact with the Kovid-19 viral load, they found that Kovid-19 infected people had a 90 percent chance of catching the infection if they talked for a few minutes, even at a distance of 10 feet from each other.
The masked man stood five feet away from the Covid 19 victim and examined the situation he encountered while speaking. Wearing a surgical mask and talking for 30 minutes increases the risk of contracting the disease by 90 percent. If you wear an FFP2 mask, you have a 20 percent chance of catching an infection after talking for an hour. When a person with Covid wears a surgical mask with a normal person, it is revealed that the average person has a 30 percent chance of contracting the disease after talking for an hour. Both wore tight FFP2 masks on their face, so the risk of infection was 0.4 percent.
Finally, the research team concluded that wearing the right mask while in the group provides the best protection for the wearer and others. The preference for maintaining physical distance decreases. Compared to FFP2 / N95 masks and surgical masks, wearing an FFP2 / N95 mask provides about 100 times more protection.
Alex Huffman, an associate professor of chemistry and aerosol science at the University of Denver, described the results on Twitter.
