We know until the cabinet meeting to discuss Christmas restrictions

Published on

As the cabinet convenes today to discuss the new Kovid restrictions, here is what we know so far.

December 24

Restaurants and gastro pubs should be closed – probably during lunch.

Hairdressers, barbers and other private services such as nail bars will also be closed.

December 25

Christmas Day is expected to be the last day for people to attend religious services, after which they will move online.

It is also the last day to allow three homes to be visited indoors. It will become a home visit on St. Stephen’s Day, followed by a ban on all home visits on January 1st.

December 26

The ban on international travel will be reintroduced. People will be asked to stay in their counties for weeks to come. However, anyone visiting family or friends will not be compelled to return immediately upon first planning.

Travel restrictions are not expected to go back to 5km.

Restrictions on funerals and wedding attendance are also expected.

December 31

The ban on flights from the UK will continue until the end of the year, after which the quantity will be reviewed by the Cabinet.

Remains after Christmas

All retail outlets will remain open, but the cabinet will discuss the impact of the January sales, which will increase the rush in stores.

Gyms and social outdoor social distance sports such as golf and tennis will be allowed.
