UN considers Brazil to accept Haitians camped on US-Mexico border, agency says | The world

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has formally consulted with Brazil to find out if the country can accept some Haitians camped on the border. USA that’s all MexicoAccording to the Reuters news agency.

Referring to the request of IOM, the UAE’s immigration arm, Idamarati said in a statement that “the issue is being addressed in discussions between authorities from several countries and is being analyzed in the light of current legislation.”

The IOM request comes during the US presidency, Joe Biden, Is facing increasing pressure to resolve another immigration crisis, with thousands of Haitians trying to enter the country illegally.

They are gathered under a bridge in Texas, north of Rio Grande, near the Mexican border. But the American government began to send them back To Haiti.

Who can be sent to Brazil

Two sources told Reuters that the IOM had asked Brazil to accept Haitians who had Brazilian children or had passed through Brazil before entering Mexico. They say they are more likely to accept the first order.

When contacted, IOM said through its Mexican office, “We have a voluntary return program that helps immigrants from different countries.” Without giving further details, the organization said that “an agreement between the countries concerned is required to implement this program”.
