Tonight Ireland: Here are the exact times when you see the red planet ‘burning on the edge of the moon’.

Published on

Astronomy urges Irish people to look up at the sky tonight to see Mars burning on the edge of the moon.

This unusually bright planet will be near the Moon on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

It is harder to lose because it is brighter than all the stars around it.

Fortunately the situation is predicted to be clear in many parts of the country, so it is perfectly equipped to sit in the garden and look up at the sky.

Here’s what you need to know about how to view it;

What time does it appear?

If you are an early riser it will appear tonight at 10pm and again on Sunday at 6am.

Where do I look and what do I see?

Astronomer David Moore of Ireland said: “Mars is brighter and more unusual.

“It will be an incredible sight for the naked eye!

“In fact, we urge everyone to set an alarm at 6am on Sundays for the‘ main event ’when Saturday (at 10pm) is very close to the top edge on Tuesday (the brightest in 2 years now). Of the moon.

“Most people have never seen something like this. It’s a miracle of nature not to see it! Wake up the whole family, especially as the weather forecast for that morning gives hope.”

When does it look bright again?

If you missed this event you will have another chance to see something similar in December 2022, but more than 2 years from now.
