On Saturday, September 4, the Minister of Finance spoke on the sidelines of the European House-Ambrosetti Forum on the shores of Lake Como.

Finance Minister Bruno Le Meyer on Saturday called for a “strong Europe” in Cernobio, Italy, to build “political freedom” and “technological sovereignty” beyond the term “a common European”.

“We want to fight for a Europe that holds the position of the world’s greatest power with the United States and China,” he declared on the sidelines of the European House – Ambrosetti Forum, “on the shores of Lake Como.”

In the midst of these values, he affirmed, “solidarity between nations” and “a model of economic development that respects the environment”, while France will rotate the Council of European Ministers in January. , ”The minister argued.

“We must build this European independence by shifting industrial production and building new value networks in areas such as hydrogen, artificial intelligence, electric batteries, biotechnology or health,” he explained. To finance these investments, “it will take the union of capital markets and the banking union,” he noted. “We hope to make progress on these issues, which are financially burdensome.”

France is also trying to “reach a European consensus under the French presidency on the minimum taxation of multinational corporations,” he added.

Ireland, Hungary and Estonia are reluctant to join the agreement reached in July by the G20 countries, which pay at least 15% of the profits of multinational corporations.
