One person wrote on Twitter for the flight that “hundreds” of people arrived for the 8.55pm flight.
It was initially thought that British Airways would pick up isolated passengers overnight at a hotel, but it was later realized that a last-minute flight had been arranged.
“All the Irish people in Terminal 5 were pressured to go nowhere,” one tweeted, as passengers gathered at the terminal wearing masks.
Another wrote: “Most of this crowd does not even know what is happening. Booked the flight again and waited to board at a hotel. ”
