Seven students were killed on Tuesday when they fell into a free space inside the building of the Public University of El Alto (UPEA) in Bolivia. The victims were between 21 and 23 years old, according to information published on the portal Diario da Amazinia.
In a video circulating on the Internet, students can be seen gathering on the fifth floor of the building. Then the guards break down and the students fall. Some students hung up, but were dragged by classmates to avoid a fall.
Local newspapers initially reported that three young men had died, but at least four others ended up not resisting injuries.
Bolivian police said on Twitter that they were investigating the case and regretted what had happened.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused at the public university #Lalto (UPEA), which caused many deaths and injuries. Our sincere condolences to the people and grieving families of El Alto.
