Slovenia and Northern Ireland toppled Norway and Kosovo respectively

On the fifth day of the League of Nations, two meetings were scheduled for this Saturday at 6 pm. Norway faced Slovenia at home in Group 4 of League B. The locals turned things around to eventually win against Erling Braut Haaland’s teammates (2-1). The Norwegians opened the scoring after the break, despite Imperial’s Jan Oblak making several saves in the first period (24th and 45th). After a poor recovery by San Karnicnik, Mohamed Elyounoussi sent the ball back to the Norwegian striker (47th). Then Slovenia came back to life. Well launched deep, Benjamin Cesko crossed for Andras Sporar and tricked Nyland (69). After a poor recovery from the Norwegian defence, once again the Slovenian nugget, Cesko, made a cross half-volley from outside the area that was going to die near the Norwegian goalkeeper’s post (81). With the win, Slovenia reclaims third place from Sweden ahead of their match against Serbia (8:45pm) while Norway remains in first place.

Northern Ireland (3rd) host Kosovo (2nd) in another match scheduled for 6pm on Day 5 of Group 2 of League C. Behind Greece, the firm leader of this group, the Irish also turned things around (2-1). The visitors opened the scoring after Vedat Murikhi scored an assist from Donat Rudhani (58, 1-0). The Irish equalizer was scored by Gavin White, who returned a few minutes earlier following a pass from Shane Francis Lavery (82, 1-1). Josh Magnannis (90-2, 2-1) sealed the win for the Islanders in the final seconds. The result moves Northern Ireland to within a point of Kosovo, while Greece face Cyprus at 8:45.
