Six Countries for Women: Merciless England

Published on

England logically defeated Italy (74-0) in Parma on Sunday, retaining first place in the 2022 Women’s Six Nations tournament, ahead of France, and beat Ireland (40-5) in Toulouse on Saturday, the second day. Defending champions Red Roses conceded no less than 12 attempts (including a hat-trick by winger Lydia Thompson) to the Italians, finishing last in the standings. On the third day they will host Wales.

France’s XV will travel to Scotland next weekend to confirm its pace within six months of the World Cup (October 8 – November 12) in New Zealand in search of its first trophy since 2018. Strictly speaking, the Scots led for more than an hour in front of the Welsh at Arms Park in Cardiff, eventually losing slightly and recovering a defensive bonus point (24-19).

Second day results
France – Ireland 40-5
Wales – Scotland 24-19
Italy – England 0-74

Third day program

Saturday, April 9 (5.45pm): England – Wales
Sunday, April 10 (2:00 pm): Scotland – France
(6:00 pm) Ireland – Italy
