Scientists have discovered a mysterious radio signal

Published on

The mysterious signal is different from what is known.

The universe is full of mysteries waiting to be solved. The source of the radio signal known as J054149.24–641813.7 is one such mystery. Joel Balson’s scientific team at the Western University of Sydney in Australia made the discovery. Astronomers have been able to detect a mysterious signal using the Australian Telescope Compact Array (ATCA), the Australian Square Kilometer Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) and the Park’s Radio Telescope. Thanks to these telescopes, scientists were able to detect a signal 60,000,000 light-years away from the Galaxy NGC 2082. The source is located at an angle of 20 seconds from the center of the galaxy.

The researchers shared their findings on a prepress server arXiv, They also described the features of this radio signal. At 888 MHz the radio luminance of the signal is 129 EW / Hz and has a flat radio spectral index of 0.02. Based on these properties, the scientists concluded that the source of the signal was not a pulsar or a supernova remnant. The researchers say the signal source may be a heat source. According to the researchers, the source of the signal could be an active galaxy nucleus, a quasar or a radio galaxy. As more data need to be collected, we will wait for the exact determination of the signal.
