Roger Stone on Monday evening mentioned his trial for lying to Congress was “the most terrible experience you can have” — and slammed the federal justice system for his prosecution.
Stone, whose 40-month sentence was commuted by President Trump Friday, blasted his prosecution while venting about his working experience in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“This is the most horrible practical experience you can have mainly because I see right away why 99 p.c of the persons who chose to plead not guilty and go to trial, lose,” Stone, 67, explained to Hannity.
“When you’re up in opposition to the horrific and deep-pocket assets of the federal federal government and these, truly sadistic, arrogant, politically determined prosecutors … I had a biased judge, I experienced a stacked jury, I experienced a corrupt jury forewoman,” Stone fumed.
Stone’s lawyer, David Schoen, explained in the job interview that he and Stone will “have to sit down and make a conclusion as to regardless of whether to go ahead with the attractiveness.”
Stone was convicted in November 2019 on seven counts of obstruction, witness tampering and making bogus statements to Congress stemming from particular counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
If Stone does seek out to have his costs acquitted, Schoen mentioned they would do it before Decide Amy Berman Jackson, who presided in excess of Stone’s demo.
“I’ve got to turn into confident that I could get a good second demo, mainly because I certainly did not get a good initially demo,” Stone explained.
A longtime adviser to Trump, Stone again heaped praise on the president for commuting his sentence times in advance of it was scheduled to start out.
“I have deep, deep affection for Donald Trump simply because I’ve recognized him 40 many years,” Stone claimed.
“He saved my daily life, and at least on paper, he gave me a prospect to struggle for vindication,” he said.
