The Baltimore Ravens have spent the last seven months in a disappointing play-off defeat to the Titans. They were disappointed in the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon. Baltimore jumped early in Cleveland, conceding a drop to wide receiver Odel Beckham Jr. just before half-time and continuing to attack 38-6 at the end of the game.
Outside the tight end touchdown pass, Mark Andrews and quarterback Lamar Jackson were once again shining. He threw just five imperfections and danced around the match using his scraping opportunities. Wide receiver Marquis Brown and Andrews were great against a broken Browns.
There were very few bright spots for Cleveland. Although David Joko produced the wide receiver Jarvis Laundry and the tight end when targeting, overall, the team struggled to create a split bottom.
Why the Crows won
This is week 1, so the commentary will be simple before the narrative is overdone; Jackson was incredible. Football is an extension of his body. In addition to hitting Brown on the stride for a big win, he also threaded a third and long throw for Andrews on the field. When the pocket was broken, he was able to escape and gain a positive yardage.
The sequel has been the talk of most seasons, playing as expected at M&T Bank Stadium. Baltimore returned the lion’s share of their offensive unit. Not a single blow was lost between the conclusion of the 2020 NFL playoffs and the start of the 2020 regular season campaign.
Why the Browns lost
Where do you start when you are tasked with explaining how the Brown Nice was lost? It may have been a drop in the first half of the third and second half that allowed Baltimore to get on the field and score points before half time. These can be defensive communication problems on the defensive. Baker Mayfield is still not ready to take the check given to him. This is the inability of pass catchers to create downfield distinction. This may be due to Cleveland’s secondary pillow and lack of pass ride. It can be a combination of those things and more.
Game of Thrones
JoJo had requested a trade in this office after the team signed with Austin Hooper and drafted Harrison Bryant. JoJo is one of the bright spots of this team as it is good that Cleveland is not in charge. The second and tenth Mayfield throw a jump ball from Cleveland’s 41-yard line near Joko, the rest. At Town Young coverage, JoJo raised him and took the ball to its climax in one of Cleveland’s biggest games.
What’s next
Another AFC North rival, Cleveland, has a home game – Cincinnati Bengal in Thursday night’s football. Coming to Baltimore Road for the first time this season, he will face Houston Texans and quarterback Deshan Watson next weekend.
