Qatar prepares to play Portugal

Doha: Asian champions Qatar are preparing to face Portugal in the European qualifiers on October 9.

Arriving in Portugal on Sunday, Qatar began a five-day training camp in Pharaoh, Portugal the next day.

Annabi will face Ireland in Dublin on October 12, hoping to put up a good performance against both teams.

Qatar, who lost 1-3 to Portugal in the first leg, shared the points with Ireland after a 1-1 draw.

The team returns to Doha on October 13 when players join their clubs.

The European Football Confederation (EFC) has invited Annabi to take part in the European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Qatar joined Group A with Portugal, Serbia, the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan. They play their home games in Europe to facilitate short travel time for rivals.

Qatar have qualified for the tournament as the host nation for the next World Cup, so their results in Group A will not be considered for qualification.
