Pubs and restaurants may face Christmas restrictions

Published on

Pubs and restaurants may face the possibility that indoor customers may not be able to open their doors again for Christmas.

In a meeting with business groups last night, tennis leo Varadkar explained that the goal of the incoming level 5 restrictions is to bring the country to the third level by December 1st.

However, under Level 3, restaurants, cafes and pubs can only be open to a maximum of 15 people for takeaway and delivery, do-door dining or service.

Level 2 will allow them to reopen indoor services as long as there are certain protections and restrictions.

Several sources familiar with last night’s conference call confirmed that Varadkar had indicated that he was not optimistic that Level 2 would be reached by Christmas.

As a result, hospitality businesses told participants at tennis briefings that it would be strategic to operate during this period.

However, the belief of those involved in this area is that customers will not be allowed into their premises during Christmas and will be controlled instead of doing dot door service.

This is very difficult for most establishments, considering the December weather and the lack of dot door seats in many places.

Tennis pointed out that the hospitality sector should return in a few weeks and start a conversation with the government about what they will look like when Level 3 arrives.

A spokesman for Teniste said the virtual meeting was called to hear the concerns of business leaders and answer questions about government assistance.

Tao Tzu and Tennis said last night that the current path would indicate that Level 3 is a realistic aspiration in early December.

However, the situation will be reviewed throughout Level 5, and a clear exit strategy is in place based on the virus’s reproduction rate and the overall trend in case numbers.
