Portugal held off Northern Ireland with a big (4 – 0) home win on Day 3 of their women's Euro 2025 qualifiers.
The Navigators Had a great time this Friday evening. Dr. Leria Portugal cruised to a 4-0 win over Northern Ireland in style on day three of their Euro 2025 women's qualifying campaign at the Magalhas Pessoa Stadium. The Portuguese completely dominated their opponents and the final result perfectly illustrated this dominance.
Captain Carol Costa scored the first goal of the match through a penalty (25') in the first period. On his way back from the locker room, the fullback, Lucia Alves, produced a magnificent lob and let Portugal fly away. Catarina Amado was inspired by her teammate's feat and went with her shorter dive (83′). At the end of the game, Lucia Alves finished the ball with a clear and unstoppable shot to the opposing goalkeeper (90+6′).
Selecao are currently top of their qualifying group (B3) with 3 wins in as many matches. Team with 9 points Francisco Neto Ahead of Northern Ireland (4 points), Bosnia-Herzegovina (3 points) and Malta (1 point). The next game, again against Northern Ireland, is next Tuesday, June 4.
