Planet Uranus: An incredible discovery with a grand premiere

Published on

The planet Uranus is little known to mankind in the Solar System, which is a great distance from Earth, but that does not prevent researchers from observing it further. These observations by scientists made the first discovery possible for mankind, as a series of unexplained gas bubbles have been identified on the planet Uranus.

The planet Uranus will have large ammonia bubbles in its atmosphere that will spread over very large areas, and yet scientists do not know much about them. According to the scientists who made the discovery, these areas of ammonia seem to spread not only along the length of the atmosphere, but also across the altitude, where gases reach the lower parts of the planet’s atmosphere. Uranus has ammonia bubbles similar to those on Jupiter, where they form at very low altitudes, and scientists can find an explanation for this phenomenon on a distant planet. They believe the same explanation applies to the planet Uranus, so these areas filled with ammonia will form as a result of strong storms that may occur on the planet, or occur unnoticed in various regions.

“Thermodynamic chemistry suggests that this process is more efficient in Uranus and Neptune, and that the mushroom seed region is wider and deeper,” Gillette said. “Therefore, ammonia may be hidden in the deep atmosphere of these planets beyond the capacity of existing equipment.”

Uranus may have hidden ammonia-filled areas at very low altitudes, but instruments used by NASA or ESA spacecraft cannot detect it so deeply. This situation is not entirely unprecedented, as spacecraft sent to the planet Uranus had much older equipment than they currently have, and new missions are needed to further explain what is being observed there.

The planet Uranus is not yet on a space mission scheduled by NASA or ESA, so it is difficult to say if scientists can explain everything we see now.
