Obama criticizes Trump’s tweets and track record

Published on

Former US President Barack Obama has criticized Donald Trump at a public rally in support of Democratic challenger Joe Biden ahead of next month’s presidential election.

At a drive-in rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of the handful of battlefield states where elections are expected to take place, Obama lashed out at Trump’s behavior and declared that he “could not take the job seriously.”

He also issued a reminder in 2016 that Hillary Clinton was a clear favorite in opinion polls – only her followers and I were shocked at Trump’s victory on election day.

“We cannot be satisfied. I don’t care about the vote, ”the president of the previous two years told a rally outside a baseball stadium.

“Last time there was a bunch of polls. It didn’t work out because a bunch of people stayed at home. They’re lazy and satisfied. Not this time. Not in this election.”

He told supporters that his successor, the Republican real estate mogul, is a former reality TV star – and with his former vice president, Trump is in great danger of leading the country for another four years.

“This is not a reality show. This is the reality, “said Obama.

“We were all able to live with the consequences of proving he was incapable of taking work seriously.”

He pointed to Trump’s previous standards, including retweets of gossip conspiracy theories, alleging that the US response to the corona virus pandemic had been mishandled.

“Our democracy will not work if the people who are supposed to be our leaders lie and make things happen every day,” he said.

“We’ll get tired of it.”

Earlier, in a roundtable with black community organizers in Philadelphia, Obama said, “The pandemic would be tough for any president, and we have not seen anything like this in 100 years.”

The corona virus has killed more than 220,000 people in the United States, seriously injuring the world’s largest economy, and has sparked sharp criticism of the president’s handling of the crisis.

“We can’t afford another four years,” Obama said.

While Obama was in Pennsylvania, Trump visited another battlefield state, North Carolina, where he mobilized crowds with popular campaign themes such as his law and order platform.

“If Biden wins, street protesters will lead your federal government,” Trump told a packed audience at a municipal airport in the city of Gastonia.

The 77-year-old Biden had no public events on his schedule for the third day in a row, and the 74-year-old Trump accused his Democratic opponent of “going into hiding.”

The Biden campaign announced that it was preparing for its second and final debate against Trump in Nashville, Tennessee this evening.

Obama was absent from the Democratic presidency during the primary, but he backed Biden after the former vice president won the party nomination.

The Biden campaign hopes that the star power of the first U.S. black president will help increase turnout among young voters and African Americans, a key component of Democratic hopes to recapture the White House.

African Americans voted for Obama in record numbers in 2008 and 2012, but dropped out in 2016, leading to Trump’s victory over Miss Clinton.
