Nuremberg Pop Festival 2022: Elena Rudd

A life between exasperation and reflection, despair and self-mockery Elena Rudd. The eponymous singer lives in Munich with her four-piece band (which she affectionately calls her pack). Together they make innovative, danceable pop music that focuses on Elena’s distinctive, indie rock and synth wave sound. In her poetry, Elena addresses body dysmorphia, anxiety, sexuality, and toxic relationships. She calls this removal of taboos “melancholic love shit,” thus expressing her generation’s world-weariness — between hatred of others and self-loathing, body image issues and anxiety states. For more weakness, insecurity and bright make-up instead of dominance, oppression and aggression – the four boys in her band not only stand behind her, but also defend themselves against the toxic ideas that measure them in our world. Although it may seem disappointing at first, Elena Rudd is by no means a disappointment. On the contrary: Her look is confident, and her message is empowering: We all have these issues and can finally talk about them.
