Norway, Ireland and Spain commit to recognizing a Palestinian-liberated state

Several European capitals, including Madrid and Dublin, announced their intention to recognize a Palestinian state this Wednesday, May 22. An outraged Israel recalled several of its ambassadors, while Hamas and the PLO rejoiced.

This Wednesday, May 22, Norway opened the ball for a day in which several European countries announced their intention to recognize a Palestinian state. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Storr announced this morning that his country would recognize Palestine as of May 28. Shortly afterwards, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris announced at a press conference: “Today, Ireland, Norway and Spain declare that we recognize the State of Palestine. Each of us will now take national steps to make this decision effective..” Finally, the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced this “On Tuesday, May 28, Spain will approve the recognition of the State of Palestine in the Council of Ministers.”.
