Thanks to the financial support from MRC des Appalaches, many cultural and artistic projects will come to light during the summer. The Council of Mayors has provided a total of $ 13,390 in financial assistance to eight organizations and municipalities in the area as part of the 2022 Cultural Fund.

In addition to these annual batch initiatives, the MRC des Appalachs Council of Adults received a $ 9,000 grant. Families, young people and adults can learn about different art forms or experience cultural activities in the community.

Cultural funds and special schemes for adults are the result of MRC des Appalachia’s fourth cultural development agreement for 2021-2023 with the Government of Quebec, Desjardines. “Since 2012, it has served as a spark plug, facilitating the realization of projects that have stimulated cultural development in many municipalities. We look forward to it, ”said Warden Jacinte Patry.

Under the agreement, funds will be allocated to implement local projects in Quebec that will meet the objectives of the policy of living together in one’s home and community. In 2021, MRC will support intergenerational exchanges in the textile arts during the current academic year. Three pairs bringing together an artist, a group of artisans and a school will lead to the creation of a collective work.

This year, the MRC supported the Rehabilitation Project of the Appalachians Seniors Council, allowing people living in residential areas to regain a social life after many difficult imprisonments by offering a variety of arts and cultural events. Financial assistance from the MRC makes it possible to increase the number of cultural activities conducted in the area.
