Nordic Skiing: Anja Weber wins gold at U23 World Championships
Endurance athlete Anja Weber won gold in the Classic Technique over 10 km with a start in the under-23 category at the Nordic Junior World Championships in Ligna, Norway. The 20-year-old from Zurich, one of the best Swiss women in triathlon, has competed in sprint (49th) and 10km (55th) at the Olympic Games in Beijing in recent weeks. Natalie von Siebenthal last won gold for Switzerland at the 2015 Under-23 World Cup in cross-country skiing. Skiathlon was won by a native of Bern at the time.
Basketball: Significant Swiss victory
Swiss basketball players win 83:72 in the third game against Ireland in Freiburg as part of the pre-qualification for the 2025 European Championship.
