They urged the public to wear masks and think about their loved ones, the elderly and the medically vulnerable.

The twins also talked about their mum Susanna, who died of cancer last year.

Edward said: “Our mother, five years ago, found that she had failed leukemia and kindness. All of this is a little too much.

“My heart goes out now to everyone who could not go to a funeral,” John added.

“She will not be at our weddings and will not see our children, but it is very disappointing to think that we will always keep her spirit active.”

Twitter users reacted to Jedward’s appearance on the Late Late show, praising their passion.

“Fair play with Jedward – and arguing with gossip theorists and pointing out the best about how they protect others and what affects our mental health,” one observer wrote.

The second added: “The JD (U) is late now and is having better public health communication than the government has been doing for months. What is 2020?”

“I respect Jedward now. They have matured, ”wrote the third.

The fourth said: “Is Jeddah a national treasure ???? Yes, I think so.”

V added: “I’m a Jedward fan now. Thoughtful interview about grief. Beautiful singing.”
