Kovid – Omikron: As many as 25 million residents in Shanghai have been evacuated in two phases since Monday to prevent an epidemic.

The eastern part of Shanghai will be limited to five days from Monday to allow population screening, followed by the western part from April 1 for the same period.

Shanghai, with a total population of 25 million, will hold a lockdown east of the Huangpu River for four days from Monday, including the city’s economic center and industrial areas. Then, the western part of the city will be affected by a new detention for four more days, the local government in Shanghai said in a press release issued this Sunday.

This Sunday, March 27th, Chinese health officials reported more than 4,500 new cases, a declining number, but still well above the average number of new daily infections, double digits per day for the past two years.

So immediate steps were taken to limit the outbreak of infections that have been concentrated in Shanghai and surrounding areas of this metropolis in recent days.

As the number of cases increased, the city government announced the implementation of two-stage detention.Ensure the safety and health of the people to prevent the spread of contagious diseases“And”Eliminate cases of infection as soon as possible“.

The eastern half of the city, known as Pudong, which includes the major international airport and economic district, will be closed from Monday morning until May 1 as part of an extensive Kovid inspection operation.

On April 1, the government added that the western half of the city, known as Puxi, would be closed for five days.
