King Charles III receives the Queen’s coffin in London

The Queen left Scotland for good and flew to London. King Charles visits Northern Ireland. There are words of historical importance.

Queen Elizabeth’s body arrives at Buckingham Palace. King Charles III had previously returned from Northern Ireland. Her mother’s coffin was received in London on Tuesday night. All of Charles’ grandchildren were in attendance, including his brothers Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The coffin – accompanied by the Queen’s daughter Princess Anne – was previously flown from Scotland by a Royal Air Force plane and brought from west London to the palace, where it will remain overnight in the so-called Bow Room.

As in Edinburgh, thousands of people lined the streets of London along the path of the hearse and in front of the palace to catch a glimpse of the coffin. The car arrived at Buckingham Palace to a standing ovation.

Despite the darkness, the car was lit up so that the coffin could be seen through the window panes. It was a state tomb and its design was approved by the Queen herself.

On Wednesday, the coffin will be accompanied by King Charles and other royals to the British Parliament, where the Queen will lie in state for several days. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected there to pay their last visit to the Queen. In Germany, major television stations such as ARD, ZDF and RTL also broadcast the procession live.
