Nickelodeon star alum JoJo Siwa has resolved the accusations that just one of her dancers donned blackface in a recent online video.
“I would like to address the music movie that we shot for ‘NONSTOP’ in February,” the 17-year-outdated “Dance Moms” star posted throughout her social media accounts. “We’re talking about young children dressing up as circus animals! No a person in my video is donning blackface. It is dreadful that anyone’s head would even go there. Young children dressing in animal costumes, acquiring their faces painted to appear like animals, performing the element.”
Siwa launched the video clip on June 19, and the accusations picked up plenty of steam on social media to advantage Siwa’s reaction a week afterwards. The dancer in problem, determined as 12-12 months-old Lilliana Ketchman, is in fact carrying brown make-up on her encounter as element of what seems to be a monkey costume, but it is, as Siwa claims, framed inside the more substantial context of a circus location.
Siwa evidently had taken to blocking end users and deleting opinions on Instagram in the intervening week about the vitriol she was facing — which angered some end users even more — conveying, “People were being sending me seriously awful and disgusting messages about my visual appearance, my sexuality, my content, and general just becoming hateful.”
“I did not do something that requires an apology,” she wrote on Twitter Friday evening just after releasing her statement, “this is me clearing items up.”
