Japan remains one of the safest countries in the world, improving its ranking from 12th to 10th this year, according to the Institute for Economics and Peace’s latest Global Peace Index.
of The index includes 163 countries in the world and examines social security, domestic and international conflicts, and militarization.
Germany ranks 16th on the global peace index
Other factors in the ranking include political stability, relations with neighboring countries, refugee numbers, nuclear weapons, ongoing conflicts, military spending and incarceration rates.
In the current ranking of the safest countries in the world, Japan is ranked 10th, followed by Iceland, New Zealand and Ireland.
According to the Global Peace Index, Germany ranks 16th worldwide and 11th safest country in Europe.
Japan was more peaceful last year
Japan has moved up two places since last year to become more peaceful, the report said. However, the country is still one position behind the 2020 result.
The country ranks third in terms of security. In the Asia-Pacific region, Japan ranks third behind New Zealand and Singapore.
