With the Premier League winners exploiting Team Gong of the Year, Liverpool had more silver linings and Klopp was named coach of the year.

At a star-studded ceremony, a letter from the 30-year-old German to Henderson underscored his value to the team.

He said on the BBC program: “Hello friend, hello our captain.

“When we won the Premier League last season, you wrote a personal letter to me and me on the team.

“Well, now it’s my turn. I am writing you this letter.

“They say this Liverpool team is not a superstar. We have a team player. That’s right, but you’re a superstar in making us that team.

You are a world class athlete and football player, but you are an even better human being.

“Jordan, people often ignore your quality, but not me, not your team members.

“Everyone can see it after a difficult journey with many obstacles – personality, character, ability. The complete package.

“You led our club to end 30 years of waiting. You did it with humility and grace. You are a world-class athlete and footballer, but you are an even better man.

“Thanks for everything, buddy, there’s a big 2021 here. With love, Jorgen.”

Liverpool, who ended a 30 – year wait for the league title last season, are advancing on defense for the title.

Henderson scored in the 7-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Klopp, 53, praised his players in the Team of the Year announcement and said he expects a big party when fans are allowed.

He said: “I think my team deserves it because it did an incredible job.

“It’s a combination of ability, character, desire and the strength of the club.

“All together we became champions and it was a great, great moment.

“We will do anything to reduce the time until the fans come back and we want to organize a big big party when we are allowed.

“Before that we can have two things to achieve and celebrate again.

“But one thing we achieved last year, we will definitely celebrate and we can’t wait to see you again.

“Getting this gift, by the way, in Manchester … makes it even sweeter.”
