The Irish Rugby Football Union has formally announced the arrival of a new General Manager on January 1, 2022. Kevin Pottes replaces Philip Brown, who has been head of the federation since 1998.

Kevin Pottus spoke on the IRFU website shortly after his appointment, saying he was honored to represent Irish rugby internationally:

“It simply came to our notice then. Rugby brings people together on and off the field; This is a topic of discussion across the country because people are excited about it.

Clearly, in this time of uncertainty about Kovid, the immediate challenges will be the 6-nation championships, the completion of reviews critical to our women’s football, and the continued support of our provinces and clubs in a growing environment.

Rugby has always played an important role in my life as a player and as an administrator, so the well-being of the player and the development of the game will be at the heart of my decision making.

I would also like to thank Philip Brown, who has been at the helm of Irish rugby for almost three decades. Philip is one of the most respected CEOs in Ireland and world rugby, and it is an honor to be his successor.

In short

Kevin Pots will succeed Philip Brown as head of the Irish Rugby Football Union from January 1, 2022. It was an honor for him to be able to represent Ireland.
