Health services in Ireland have recently confirmed the target of a ransomware attack that demanded $ 20 million to unlock the content. This ransomware has already caused many problems in the health system of the country.

The Irish Health Authority HSE confirmed that its systems needed to be shut down by the end of Friday following the discovery of the Conti ransomware attack, which quickly spread to other internal systems in the network. Authorities decided to shut down the systems to prevent it from spreading to more internal networks.

Health information such as medical records and doctor’s notes are currently limited in the country. It also affects the treatment of patients who experience severe delays in consultations and treatments.

According to the portal Sleeping computerHackers who claim to have 700GB of unencrypted data related to infected systems are demanding $ 20 million from health officials – mostly patient medical records and records.
