Ireland qualified for the T20 World Cup in Australia with a semi-final victory over Oman in a World Cup qualifier. Cricket News

Gareth Delaney was Ireland’s top scorer in the semi – final win over Oman.

Ireland secured their place in this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia with a 56-point victory over hosts Oman in the semi-finals of the qualifiers.

Gareth Delaney top-scored with 47, with Harry Tecter (35) on the third wicket partnership of 82, and Andy McBrain hitting 36 off just 21 balls to help Ireland reach 165-7 in their 20 overs.

The loss of Shoaib Khan (30) led to a dramatic batting collapse as Oman got off to a good start, 68-2, losing seven wickets in six overs and finally being bowled out for 109. In the 19th over.

Ireland now face group rivals United Arab Emirates again in Thursday’s final, with the United Arab Emirates qualifying for the World Cup after beating Nepal in another semi – final.

The World Cup runs from October 16 to November 13.
