Ireland. Her own dogs attack and kill her on her birthday

The steps of an Irish house in County Limerick were the scene of a domestic drama on the night of Tuesday 4th June to Wednesday 5th June 2024. A young woman was brutally attacked by two of her four dogs on her birthday. It is reported that the victim did not survive Irish Mirror .

Witnesses spoke a scene “terrible”. According to them, the 23-year-old Irish woman opened the door of her home around 11:40 p.m. when one of her dogs pounced on her. The Independent . Another would follow to attack him. “The dogs were maiming her”, a person who was at the site testified. The police immediately intervened and tried to save the woman. With no other choice, a peace officer shot one of the American bullies, the result of a cross between an American Staffordshire terrier and an American pit-bull terrier.

Unfortunately, it was too late for the young woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick for a post-mortem. Other dogs have been seized by authorities and an investigation has been launched to shed light on the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

Since then, tributes have poured in on social networks. “My heart is broken. On your birthday. I love you.”A relative said. “His dogs were like his children”, lamented the grandfather. This is not the first time American bully dogs have attacked people. In 2022, one of these dogs had already killed a 9-year-old boy in Ireland. Last May, a woman in her fifties lost her life after being bitten by an American bully near London. From February 2024, a certificate will be required to own a dog of this breed in British territory.
