Kaloyan Geshev, who is only eleven and a half years old, is the world champion in mental arithmetic.
Master many types of math operations without fail – speed multiplication, division, rooting, calculating dates of days.
“I calculate the coefficients of the first, the date, the month and the year,” Kaloyan explained in the new column “Great Hopes” on the “This Saturday” program.
It has been able to calculate the day since the 17th century. It can also root up to 6-digit numbers, which is one of our greatest hopes in mental arithmetic. Earlier in the month, he became world champion in his age group at the championships in Bielefeld, Germany.
“56 participants from 13 countries participated. Two hours were given for 26 sheets and there were three or four surprise sheets,” he added.
Kaloyan defeated people from India, Japan, Algeria and many other countries. The expected “surprises” from the championship could not impress him.
All resolved within two hours.
“To reach these results, you need to have the ability and desire, but you can’t just rely on ability – you also need practice,” adds the world champion in mental math.
“I want to be a teacher of mathematics, calculus and general mathematics. However, I am engaged in this and I want it to be effective and useful”, says Kaloyan.
