David Lowry signed on to a visually sublime reinterpretation of the Arthurian epic. Not for everyone, a real sensory experience.
Released in the US last July, Green Night will finally be visible to the French public. However, David Lowry’s movie will be available from January 3, 2022, directly on Amazon Prime Video, not in theaters. Here is our review:
With his dominance he became the best representative of Demand and Art cinema A Ghost Story In 2017, David Lowery returned to the same ground singularly Green KnightIts source is in an anonymous poem of the 14th century, Cyre Gowain and Green Knight. An independent adaptation of Arthur’s nephew and insecure knight at the round table (Dev Patel) accepting the challenge of a mysterious and supernatural Green Knight with his sword around his neck. Instead, Gov. will have to do the same within a year. He does so, beheading the knight … gets up in shock and puts his head under his arm, reminding him of his promise. Lowry cleverly takes the time to tell the story of a man who has no one, long and meditative shots (Irish landscapes are hard to believe) where nature, swallows, and hides man. A kind of avant-garde Arthurian epic, a leg up in tradition, but more conscious in the process of overcoming it: here it is a question that disconnects the nature of a myth, what Gowen is trying to create. Self, born of a collective story, wondering what makes a good story. Everything is storytelling with David Lower, sometimes to the point where it becomes completely mysterious – more than one is lost along the way in the film – but the flat touch of understanding the meaning of life a little better. Admit it is a very good deal.
From David Lowry. With Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton … Duration 2h10. Available January 3.
