Golf: Tiger Woods adds a tournament to his calendar

After confirming his desire to compete in the British Open last week, Tiger Woods added another event to his July schedule.

Woods will compete in Ireland’s two – day tournament starting 10 days before the British Open in St Andrews, JP McManus announced on Thursday.

Woods told Sky Sports after the final round of the Masters on Sunday that he would like to play a few more tournaments in the future but could also play at St. Andrew’s Course this summer. He added that it has not been decided whether to play in the PGA Championship in the Southern Hills in May or the US Open in June at the Country Club in Brooklyn, Massachusetts.

The British Open celebrates its 150th anniversary on July 14 at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland. Woods won two of the three British Open titles at St Andrews in 2000 and 2005.

Possible presence at US Open?

Organizers of the US Open, June 16-19, said Woods had applied in time to compete in the event.

This request does not confirm whether Woods will attend or not, but confirms that he has the option to attend if he chooses.

Woods has won the US Open three times since the beginning of his career, his last title being in 2008.
