The BBC has confirmed that the new episodes of Smash Hit, Gavin & Stacey ‘One Day’ will be completed.
When the BBC’s Christmas TV schedule for 2020 was formed, Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore dropped the big bomb.
When the schedule for the festival’s favorite Call the Midwife was announced to BBC News, Dr. Who, Mrs. Browns Boys Return Charlotte Moore, explained that there would be no sequel to last year’s episode.
She said: “It’s not going to happen this year,” she joked: “One day.”
Breaking the one-time Christmas special record last year, it became the most-watched Christmas show of the decade, reaching half of the TV audience at 8:30 pm with 11.6 million viewers.
Sitcom, written and starring Ruth Jones and James Cordon, ran on BBC Three between 2007 and 2010 and later switched to BBC One, before returning in 2019, starring Matthew Horn, Joanna Page, Larry Lamp, Allison Steedman, Melanie Walters and Rob Bryden.
The show will delight fans who are eager to say yes to Nessa (Jones) and Smithy (Corden) who suggested it in the last moments of last year’s Christmas special, leaving fans in a big cliffhanger.
