France are joined by the Netherlands, Ireland, Greece and Gibraltar in the qualifying round.

A mixed draw for the France team. The Blues will have one major obstacle on their way to Euro 2024 in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024: the Netherlands. Despite being placed in Group B, the French avoided the worst during the draw for the play-offs on Sunday 9 October. Indeed, after their failed League of Nations, the Tricolors were in Pot No.2. And, as they expected, if they inherited a heavyweight from Pot 1, they avoided the dangers of other pots like Norway or Turkey.

The Blue Army will face Netherlands, Ireland, Greece and Gibraltar in Group B. In addition to the caliber of opponents, France can be delighted to have made it into a five-team group that will have room for friendlies. As a reminder: the top two in the group will qualify directly for the Euros.

“It’s a fairly dense group, a valuable group. The draw can always be better, it can be worse, as usual we have to win and be better than our opponents.”Coach Didier Deschamps responded on the microphone of the L’Equipe channel.

Group C already looks doomed with Italy, England and Ukraine. It should also be noted that Germany, the host country, automatically qualifies.

The qualification campaign for Euro 2024 starts next March. The 2022 World Cup will be held in November-December, so it will be held in a very tight time frame. Indeed, 8 or 10 qualifiers (depending on the number of teams in a group) will be played between March and November 2023. For the playoffs, it will be held in March 2024.
