Jamie Spears is in charge of a conservatory that has been controlling his daughter’s life, career and expenses for 12 years. Britney’s legal team asked him to suspend her as conservator.
During an argument this week, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny heard that the Pope Princess was afraid of her father.
Her lawyer, Samuel de Ingham III, said: ‘My client told me she was afraid of her father.
If her father was in charge of her career, she would never perform again.
Ingham said Britney had not spoken to her father in some time and that the 38-year-old was a ‘high-performing conservative’ and cared about the steps her father was taking.
Jamie’s lawyer Vivian Lee Thorin claimed that his only motivation was his unconditional love for his daughter and his intense desire to protect her from those who would try to exploit her, adding that he did not have a single piece of evidence to support my client. Suspension ‘.
Thorin objected to Ingham’s claim that Jamie’s relationship with Britney was ‘inaudible’, and argued that Britney’s assets as Conservator had risen to $ 60 million ($ 45 million).
Judge Penny refused to suspend Jamie as conservative, but said future applications for suspension or removal would be considered.
The Bessemer Trust, a corporate trustee, was also appointed co-conservator on the estate with her father at Britney’s request.
In the documents, however, Britney argued that her father had no intention of working with the Bessemer Trust and that he “wanted to maintain full control of her property, books and records in the face of Britney’s opposition.
Britney was not present at the hearing, and lawyers and parents attended by phone and video call.
The #FreeBritney protest took place outside the court, with a large number of fans pointing to indications that the toxic singer should be released from conservatism.
Many fans who were socially isolated wearing face masks also appeared inside the court.
Protests have intensified over the past few months Britney thanked fans for their support after years of silence about conservatism.
Jamie Spears was given full control of his daughter’s property in 2008 after the singer suffered from uncontrollable mental illness.
Conservatism was supposed to end a year later, but it has continued ever since.
Britney argued that her long-term care manager, Jodie Montgomery, who hired Jamie as Conservator last year, should be appointed as her permanent Conservator.
The singer has been on an ‘indefinite working break’ since January 2019, when she canceled her Las Vegas residency when her father became ill.
