In the final of the 2021 F1 season, an Irish bookmaker made a step he had never seen before. Paddy Power announced after the Abu Dhabi GP that it would pay the bookies who invested in Max Verstappen and Louis Hamilton.
Last year’s championship decision had led to much debate and debate. Because of Michael Massey’s problematic decisions regarding the last security car that allowed the Dutch to overtake the English and achieve glory.
So Paddy Power, a bookmaker in Ireland, called the result a physical injustice. With that in mind, Hamilton made the tough decision to call both the bookies and those who chose Verstappen.
“We at Paddy Power hate sports injustices, so we played our part after the controversial F1 final in Abu Dhabi,” the company said in an official statement.
“Max Verstappen needed a miracle to win, which came in the form of a strange decision by the race organizers who seemed to have torn the rulebook on the last lap of the race,” he continued.
Describing what happened in the final round of the match, the bookie concluded, “But this is not a problem for the Paddy Power Punters, because we decided to pay so much for betting on Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton as champions”, he continued.
“To continue, we paid for those who pointed out Verstappen that Hamilton was the race winner. That’s how we do it, friends, consider doing justice, “he said.
