Before construction begins in Magdeburg: Hasselof visits the construction of a new Intel factory in Ireland

Prior to the construction of the Intel chip factory in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anholt’s Prime Minister Rainer Hasseloff (CDU) looked around Ireland.

“It’s very impressive here,” Hazeloff said after a tour of the construction site. The tour of the production area, known as the “clean room”, particularly attracted the CDU politician. Chip making machines are now installed there.

Intel is expanding its industrial campus at Lexislip, near the capital, Dublin. The new mega factory will be completed next year.

It serves as a template for the plans of the chip maker in Magdeburg. Intel has announced plans to build two neighboring semiconductor factories in the state capital, Saxony-Anhalt, in the first phase of the expansion.

Processors and graphics chips have to be built there. Thousands of jobs will be created.

Intel initially wants to invest around 17 17 billion. Construction is expected to begin next year.
