Archaeologists Turkey Find two-headed statues of Greek gods from an archeological site in the western part of the country, the University of Kutahya Dumlupinar reported.
Excavations at an archeological site in Isanoi revealed that by the end of October, the statues of Aphrodite and Dionysus were more than 5,000 years old.

Archaeological finds depict two gods of the Greek Pantheon. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty, and Dionysus is the goddess of wine.
The coordinator of the archeological site, Professor Gokhan Kozkun of Kutahya Dumlupanar University, said in an interview with the Anadolu Agency that 100 people were involved in the discovery.

“These are important discoveries because they show that polytheism in ancient Greece existed for years and was not lost during the time of the Roman Empire,” Kozkun said.
The researchers said the excavations revealed that a sculpture workshop was operating in the area.

The city of Eisenhower, about 300 km from Istanbul, is famous for an ancient temple dedicated to Zeus, the god of the gods.
The exploited area was nominated to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2012, according to a UN agency assessment. It is part of an area that was originally owned by the Greeks.
