Wuppertal Lance Petit is an Associate Research Fellow and Lecturer in the Department of Film, Media & Cultural Studies at the Lance Beatbeck University of London.
Voopertal English Specialist Prof. Dr. Catherine Renhak, Ph.D., Emigrant Support Program (ESP) of the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Petit will teach and do research in the field of Irish studies during the winter semester.

His lectures will focus on current developments in the study of Irish cinema, especially the media representation on the Irish border, including Eugene McCabe’s television films. Dr. Sandra Heinan and Professor Dr. Katarina Renhak, Center for Narrative Research in June 2022 He will host an international international disciplinary symposium on “Irish Border Narratives”.
Professor Petit studied English and American Literature at the University of Kent, England, and received his PhD from University College Dublin. He then taught cultural literature and Irish studies at various universities in England. He was also a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Vienna.
From 2011 to 2016 he was head of the Petit School of Arts and Humanities and director of the Center for Irish Studies at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham. He is currently conducting research and teaching at Birkbeck University in London.
In addition to his research and teaching work, Lans Petit is a board member of the Irish Film Festival in London and author of several books and articles on “Screening Ireland” (2000) and “The Last Bohemian: Brian Desmond Hearst, Irish Film” (20). He is the co-editor of the Ireland on Film Series (since 2011), which publishes critical bilingual editions of Irish screenplays. In addition to his research and teaching activities, Lance Petit was the director of the Irish Film Festival (2018-2020) in London.
The Visiting Professorship for Irish Studies is a joint venture between the Irish Government, the Irish Embassy in Berlin and the Bergishe University Wappertel.
