After a heavy sentence in Ireland
WhatsApp introduces advanced data protection additions in Europe
WhatsApp adds usage rules with more information after a hefty fine imposed by the Irish Data Protection Authority. Facebook group Meta’s chat service on Monday emphasized how data is processed, but nothing has changed.
Only provide explanations as ordered by Data Protection Officers. WhatsApp wants to overturn the 22 225 million fine imposed in September, but must comply with the requirements during the proceedings.
According to WhatsApp, there is more detailed information on why data is stored or deleted and how it is transmitted across borders. The legal basis for data processing is also presented in more detail. Apple should notify users of innovations with a banner.
In early September, the Data Protection Authority of Ireland, which operates WhatsApp Europe, alleged that the chat service had violated the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is the second highest data protection fine ever imposed by Luxembourg data protectors on Amazon after 74 746 million. Online retailers are also battling this.
