A three-eyed calf is born in India and is worshiped as Lord Shiva: People prostrate before an animal during a procession

Residents of Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh are at loggerheads over the birth of a calf, which is widely regarded as the reincarnation of Lord Shiva. The calf, born three days before Capricorn, the festival of the sun and the harvest, actually has three eyes and four parts, like a god who is considered very powerful.

Despite the efforts of a local veterinarian to try to explain what a rare genetic disorder is, since the news spread in the area, a flood of people has been pouring into the fold of “miraculous” reincarnation. The tail of those waiting to bow in front of a calf already drowned by coins, incense, garlands and coconuts stretches for an hour. In addition, many spectators arrive daily, along with those who are convinced of God’s presence.

Neeraj Chandel, the owner who is secularly concerned about the health of the animal, is not happy. “As soon as he was born, I thought the third eye on his forehead was a wound,” she explains. He adds: “This gigantic calf has an unusually long tongue and is difficult to suckle.
