The chaplain, who is in his fifties, was attacked by a teenager outside the Galway barracks, police previously announced. He received “several stab wounds.”
He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers subdued the teenager, whose age was not released, and arrested him at the scene and later taken him into custody, police said.
