After announcing his departure from the UFC this summer, McGregor talked about his return to boxing – last night he joked that he was going to fight the Filipino legend.
He tweeted: “Anyway, all the water under the bridge gives a weird giveaway. Next in the Middle East, I ‘m boxing Manny Pacquiao.”
Pound-for-pound icon Pacquiao has now confirmed that he will be fighting in a battle with the Irish.
McGregor previously fought Floyd Mayweather under the Queensbury Act in 2017, stopping in the 10th round.
Despite that defeat, he has been turning his attention to boxing for some time now.
Pacquiao, 41, also known as Pac Man, has now accepted the Irishman’s challenge.

He said the money from the fight would go to relief efforts in the Philippines after Kovid-19.
A statement from Pacquiao’s office said: “For all Filipino Covid-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will face UFC superstar Connor McGregor next year.
“A large portion of his income will go to those affected by the epidemic nationwide.”
Both have previously fought Android Mayweather.
One of the biggest PPV fights in history, Pac Man previously acquired ‘Money’ Mayweather in 2015.
But it was one of the worst PPV fights of all time, and the Filipinos struggled to get anywhere near his best form.
McGregor fans have mixed feelings about his return to boxing.
Someone said: “I’m a big fan, but FFS man go back to the best you can do. Go back to UFC and get a run on 155 or 170 titles!”
But Connor McGott said: “You will all see this. You will all talk about it. So shut up and witness the glory. Thank you Connor Yu is our Lord and Savior.”
McGregor, 32, retired from UFC for the third time this summer.
He joked yesterday that he would return to fight Pacquiao.
In a series of tweets, the Irishman said: “It would be a real recognition to face two of the best boxers of modern times for fear of a fight.”
Eight-weight world champion Pacquiao, considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, clashed in July last year when he defeated Keith Thurman in the WBA Super World Wellweight title defense.
