In Ireland, the small port of Crookhaven is the last port of call before sailing to America. There are no more than 40 year-round residents, who all know each other and gather for a toast in the village's only pub.
At the southern tip of Ireland, the Moor drowns in the deep blue Atlantic Ocean. Crookhaven is an old pirate hideout and the last land before America. The village has no more than 42 inhabitants per year. The sea sculpts not only the scenery but also the characters of the inhabitants, a former fisherman from the harbor believes: “Everything revolves around the sea, it unites the community, every day when we wake up we look at the sea, even the farmers look at the sea.”He explains.
In the village, a pub is open every year except Good Friday. More than just a pub, the place has been run by the same family for over 90 years, including patriarch Billy O'Sullivan.
At the top of Crookhaven, well hidden from view, is a secret place. The southern cliffs are natural walls facing the Atlantic Ocean. On the threshold of the houses, the bell does not ring, because here the inhabitants have a solid tradition: “It's okay to leave the key in the door”A resident says.
