A new version of English Murders starring Leo Suter and Sophia Barclay is filming in Ireland.

BritBox International (UK), Wolf Hall Producer Playground (UK) and Salt Films (Ireland) join hands for a new version LinleyBased on the novels written by the American author Elizabeth George. The 4×90 minute reboot of the popular 2000s series is currently being filmed in Ireland by the Sherlock writer. Steve Thompson Directed by Ed Bazalgette.

A veteran TV director and lead guitarist for rock group The Vapors in his youth, Basalgett has previously directed episodes of successful shows. EastEnders, Holby City, Poldark, Dr, The Last Kingdom And The Witcher.

According to DeadlineThe new adaptation will be a departure from the previous BBC series starring Nathaniel Parker and Sharon Small, which aired for six seasons from 2001-2008.

The cast of the new ones Linley leading Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) and Sophia Barclay (Ted Lasso), starring DI Thomas Linley and DS Barbara Havers, an aristocratic police detective and a maverick sergeant from a working-class background. Together, the mismatched pair form a formidable team bound together by their desire to see justice done, while the series tackles issues around identity, gender and class.

Colin Callender And David Stern Thompson and George serve as executive producers on the project for Playground. Susan McAuleyThe series is produced by SALT Films.

An attempted release date is set for mid-2025.
