The Commission welcomes Ireland's decision, notified on 27 June 2024, to participate in seven legislative acts of the Migration and Asylum Agreement. 7. Regulation regarding crisis situations and cases of use of force

The Commission already supports Ireland financially in the area of ​​migration management, with €66.9 million for the period 2021-2027, including €45.1 million from the Asylum, Migration and Integration (FAMI) and €21.8 million from the Internal Security Fund (ISF). AMIF helps member states manage migration. , while the ISF supports efforts to protect citizens' security and manage the EU's external borders.Ireland will benefit from further operational, technical and financial support from the Commission and EU agencies throughout the Agreement implementation process.

Next steps

The two decisions adopted today, namely those confirming Ireland's participation in the Asylum Procedures Regulation and the Reception Conditions Directive, will enter into force the day after their publication in the Official Journal. The other five decisions will come into effect on the 20thE on the day following their publication in the Official Journal. Like other Member States, Ireland must now implement the new rules set out in these legal instruments.

General context

Following the conclusion of a historic agreement on the Migration and Asylum Agreement, work began over the next two years to make this large and complex piece of legislation an operational reality. It will be a joint effort with the Commission supporting Member States at every step. The Common Implementation Plan for the Migration and Asylum Convention, adopted by the Commission on 12 June, sets out key steps to enable all Member States to establish the legal and operational capacities necessary to effectively implement the new legislation by mid-March. -2026.
